Altrusa Tucson Supports “I Am You 360” in Empowering Former Foster Youth
Altrusa International of Tucson is proud to support I Am You 360, a Tucson-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering underserved youth, particularly those who have aged out of the foster care system. Founded by Desiree Cook, I Am You 360 provides holistic support through innovative programs, including the Small Home Experience, which offers green, energy-efficient tiny homes to young adults aged 18-22, guiding them toward homeownership and self-sufficiency.
In July, Altrusa Tucson contributed to I Am You 360’s Hygiene Empowerment Drive, donating essential hygiene products to support the well-being and dignity of the youth served. In October, our service focus included sending gifts for the tiny homes from I Am You 360’s Amazon wish list and helping to furnish and personalize these new residences. Looking ahead, we are excited to establish and maintain a Little Free Library in the neighborhood, promoting literacy and providing accessible reading materials to residents.
The recent ribbon-cutting ceremony marked a significant milestone: 19 deserving young individuals now have homes and a path toward homeownership, thanks to I Am You 360’s efforts. This achievement is a testament to the power of community collaboration, with support from various organizations, businesses, and even the city police. As a Qualified Foster Charitable Organization, I Am You 360 is eligible for the Arizona foster care tax credit, allowing donors to contribute directly to their impactful work.
